Tarantino announced The Hateful Eight in November 2013, having originally conceived it as a novel and sequel to his previous film Django Unchained (2012). As the storm engulfs the mountainside stopover, the eight travellers come to learn that they may not make it off the mountain after all. As eight strangers who seek refuge from a blizzard in a stagecoach stopover ( Minnie's Haberdashery ) set six, eight or twelve years after the American Civil War.
